Become a Scrutineer
As a scrutineer, you will assess the compliance of student racing vehicles with the technical rules of the competition. Your role involves conducting detailed inspections of various mechanical/electrical aspects of the cars, ensuring safety and fairness in the competition.
Mechanical scrutineering
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with competition rules.
- Assess mechanical systems of the vehicles including chassis, powertrain, suspension, and safety systems.
- Work closely with student teams to explain the inspection outcomes and provide technical advice.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of inspection standards and procedures.
- Participate in briefing and debriefing meetings with the organizing team and other judges.
Required Qualifications:
- Significant experience or education in mechanical engineering, preferably in the automotive sector.
- A deep understanding of mechanical principles and automotive safety is required.
- Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.
- Proficiency in English.
- Previous experience in Formula Student competitions or automotive racing events.
Electrical scrutineering
Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed inspections of the electrical systems of vehicles participating in the competition.
- Ensure vehicle compliance with safety standards and technical regulations specified by Formula Student.
- Collaborate closely with teams to troubleshoot technical issues and guide them on best practices in electrical safety.
- Contribute to the evaluation and decision-making for vehicle approval to compete.
- Document inspections and prepare detailed reports on findings.
- Participate in technical committee briefing and debriefing meetings.
Required Qualifications:
- Education in electrical or electronic engineering, or a related field.
- Practical experience in designing or inspecting electrical systems, preferably in the automotive sector.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical safety standards and technical regulations.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both written and verbally.
- Teamwork skills and ability to manage situations under pressure.
- Previous experience in Formula Student competitions or automotive racing events.
